Cardboard Boat Race

Grab your refrigerator boxes and your duct tape – cardboard boat races are coming to Dallas! Six person teams are challenged to get creative and construct a boat, raft or some sort of floating watercraft made entirely of cardboard (taped seams and waterproofing are allowed), and navigate it across the Samuell Grand Aquatic Center lap pool. Teams will consist of a captain, a first mate and up to a four person support team. Judging will be based on design/creativity, team spirit and speed. There will even be a Titanic Award for the best of those that don’t finish. Use our Boat Building Basics guide to help you with your construction.
